Yes, Jump5 have officially retired. Having been around since 1999 entertaining an audience of teens and tweens with their high energy pop, the popular group officially disbanded on Sunday, December 16 2007 with a final concert at the Rocketown Center in Nashville, Tennessee. STREETBRAND caught up with band member Brittany Hargest in this final interview, speaking to her about the group, their plans for the future and her plans for the holidays.
SB: So it was your last ever performance as Jump 5 last week, what are your thoughts about that?
BH: When I woke up I just had to take a second and lay there for a minute to really let the fact that I was gonna perform one last time with Jump5 sink in. It felt so strange to know that I was only going to be with them for one more night after spending my whole life with the other three members!
SB: What did you do after you came off stage? Did you celebrate together after the last show?
BH: As soon as we came off the stage, all four of us ran out to the audience to thank them for coming and just spend time with them. It was nice having all of our oldest and newest friends and families there to support us!
SB: What has been the highlight of the tour so far?
BH: Just getting to be with the other acts on the tour has been such an incredible thing for us. We loved spending time with them, they've become our family and we adore them!
SB: What has been the comments/reactions from fans?
BH: For some fans, it's been really hard to say goodbye! They've come to numerous shows on the tour and have seen the show so many times. They always give us the strength to do a great show.
SB: So why are you disbanding after a successful run?
BH: I think we just all agreed that it was the right time to finally say our goodbye. We have done this for so long, grown up with this as our lifestyle that we were all ready for a change. But then we all thought what better way to say goodbye than to put out one last album and do one last tour and I'm so glad we did!
SB: Do you think Libby leaving the group made a contribution to split as a group?
BH: No I don't think that had anything to do with our disbanding at all actually. She left about four years ago and we all respected her decision, but after she left we almost became a stronger group because we knew that we wanted to stay together, even if there were only four of us. We all loved being a part of Jump5 (Libby did too!) but our deciding to end was just because we wanted to do other things.
SB: So what will you all be doing now that the tour is over?
BH: So far I've done pretty much nothing but catch up on sleep! It's so nice to finally get to sleep in my own bed! But after Christmas is over, Brandon and I are going start recording and writing more for Guest.
