{mosgoogle left} Students at Alice Steven’s school in Coventry are set to benefit from £5,000 raised by the Remploy annual golf day yesterday (Wednesday 16 July).

Now in its sixth year, the event marks the continuation of an ongoing relationship with the Alice Stevens school – which has almost 190 learning disabled students. Last year proceeds from the Remploy golf day enabled students from the school to take a learning expedition to Northern Cyprus – it is hoped that this year’s money will be used for an expedition to Southern Chile. An additional £2,000 was also raised for a local prostate cancer charity.

Remploy, which provides specialist employment services to people who experience complex barriers to work, is piloting an employment programme with the school to support disabled sixth-form students make the move into mainstream employment.

At the event at the Wychwood Golf Club, company employees, customers and suppliers from around the country were graced with an uncharacteristically sunny day to test their golfing skills and dig deep for donations. Generous support was given by main sponsors, Barnett Waddingham, prize sponsors AmEx and BNY Mellon, while other attendees provided cash contributions and raffle prizes.
