South London based rapper Ejiro has written a Christian rap song for cancer stricken Jade Goody who is said to be close to death, to bring encouragement to her and others. The 21-year-old unsigned UK gospel artist was touched by Jade Goody's story and decided to compose a track for Goody.
The song titled ‘Dear Jade (Daddy Lord Remix) (a tribute to Jade Goody)' has been posted today on the popular social networking sites YouTube and Facebook. The song talks about how life and death are in the hands of God.
The song says:
"Dear Jade, I'm sure you've come to know that like everything on earth life itself comes and goes. See in the face of death things takes a new depth, whichever of us is left thanking God for every breath. I know we've never met and this is as weird as it gets but I hope you listen and by this gesture I hope you're blessed. I heard you found faith where a lot of people lose it so may you find grace when the doctors say you're too sick and use it ‘cos faith without works is dead.
"He's everywhere you go, he's watching over you. No matter how far you go, he will never leave you. I know he will love you forever and I know that it's true. So don't give up on him and I know he won't on you."
Speaking to STREETBRAND Magazine, Ejiro said he wrote the song to bless and bring comfort to Goody.
"I want her and her loved ones to be blessed, encouraged and comforted by the song," said Ejiro. "God gave me a burden for her situation so I moved with the conviction. I wish I had moved faster as I heard she's quite sick now and may not get to hear it. But I really hope she hears it and that Jade herself will draw strength and encouragement from the words. I also hope that the world at large will be able to do the same. Cancer is deadly and too many lives are lost as a result. I know that Jade's situation has really raised awareness of cervical cancer and through this song; I am praying that more women will look at getting themselves checked sooner rather than later.
"I believe in miracles and that should it be God's will that she lives, all she'll need is faith. But if she doesn't live I'd like to believe that she was properly prepared for death by God's counsel and I hope to have helped. There are people who will misinterpret what I say and they are entitled to their own opinions. I know that I'd rather have only Jade hear the song, than the whole world. She's the one I wrote it for. My aim isn't to make the front page, but rather to see Jade as a point of contact for the UK as a woman of strength and to hear this message if these are her last days!"
Goody, 27, who found fame on Big Brother, was diagnosed with cervical cancer last summer, while on the Indian version of the show called Bigg Boss. She was released from hospital last week so she could die at her Essex home.
